Development of photobioreactors which use living hybrid materials, based on the encapsulation of photosynthetic microalgae, to target high value metabolites.
FOTOBIOMAT is a project financed entirely by the Region Wallonne, Belgium, under the scheme "Greenomat". The project brings together experts in the fields of bio and chemical engineering as well as materials chemistry from four academic research centres, based within the French speaking community of Belgium, in order to share knowledge and experience to achieve a common goal; the development of a cost effective photobioreactor to produce high value metabolites such as carotenoids.
